Silvertonhill Defibrillator Upkeep Appeal

DEFIBRILATOR NOW INSTALLED IN ESTATE!!

At the Fuers AGM it was agreed that they would donate the funds, with St John’s Scotland making up the difference, to have a defibrillator installed within the estate. I am delighted to say this is now installed & ready for use however I sincerely hope it is never needed.  

This is a great piece of equipment to have available to us.  Survival rates can be as high as 70% with defibrillation within the first 3-5 minutes, but each minute of delay can decrease the chance of survival by 10%. You don’t need special training on how to use it as the machine tells you what to do, it really is “idiot proof” and there’s loads of YouTube videos out there too showing you basic CPR and how to use a defibrillator.

While I sincerely hope that our defib is never needed, the reality is that it more than likely will be, meaning the pads will need to be replaced each time they are used and, in time, the battery will need changed too (should last a few years though). Pads cost approx £50-£60 and a battery £150-£200.

This is where we need the support of you, our residents & local businesses within the estate, to have funds available to replace the pads quickly after each use so it is not out of circulation for any length of time. If you can make a donation, no matter how small this will be kept in a bank account purely for this purpose. We obviously have no idea how many times this will be used so I have set up this GoFundMe page to try to raise £1000 to keep us going, hopefully for a long time.
