SILVER’S ARMY- FIGHT FOR A CURE!

Our dear friend Silver Martin (Barkes) needs our help. She has recently been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (Diffuse Large B-Cell NHL).

After a year of not feeling well, Silver discovered a mass in her neck which quickly grew in size in a few weeks. A CT Scan and biopsy revealed that it was, in fact cancer. It had also spread to her lungs making it Stage 2.

With a wonderful team and Dr. Hu at the helm, Silver has a plan of attack. She had a port put in and a bone marrow biopsy to rule out a secondary cancer. Luckily, that came back negative! On April 10th, the day after Easter (ironically the day we celebrate hope and new life- and not a coincidence in my opinion), Silver began her R-CHOP regimen treatment; a mix of drugs and chemotherapy.

Silver has a long hard battle ahead of her. She will endure 5 days (4 hours/day) of chemo, every 21 days for 6 rounds. She will be exhausted, feel very sick, lose her appetite and most likely her gorgeous head of hair. All temporary!

She is strong, resilient, and determined and together with her husband Ryan, their beautiful 7 year old son Will, and our support, they will win this battle with Lymphoma!

This is important now more than ever. During the same time that Silver was diagnosed with cancer, Ryan’s company folded and he was notified that he will no longer have a job. Medical and insurance expenses can add up very quickly and we can help ease their burden. Our starting goal is $5,000 but the more you can give and help spread the word, the better chance Silver and her family have.
