A 1955 alumni of Rindge Technical School, known today as Rindge School of Technical Arts at Cambridge Ringe and Latin School, Don was formally trained in telecommunications with a 25 year career at GTE Sylvania. A jack of all trades at home, self-taught in many vocational areas including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, if Don had a DYI project he would research how to do it, review the necessary equipment to complete it and fully prepare for the task at hand. Never a tool would be a miss because the garage and basement workbench were a mini Home Depot! Every project was approached with precision, just like everything else in life for Don, it was always about quality versus boastful showmanship.
Don was also a devoted worshiper and Youth Ministry Leader at St. Anthony's Church in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
This scholarship fund has been establish to aid a graduating senior from the Rindge School of Technical Arts program, of Portuguese heritage, who is seeking continued education in a trade school certificate program or college setting. This is an opportunity to give back to the community that not only Don has come up in, but also two generations that have followed him.
Our sincere appreciation for your generosity and support.
