Sihle Roxo Jr Yr Univ spring semester
Donation protected
Before going into some of my story, I want to thank you for even clicking on this gofundme page and considering donating to this. It means the world to me that you would take time out of your most likely busy day to read this. Even if you don't donate, it still means a lot that you're here and maybe someone in the Dematha, UPitt, Capital Futball Club soccer, KIPP communities and/or professional networks could help.
As of today, I am unable to get additional private and federal student loans for UPitt spring semester. This is why I created a gofundme page to try and help raise money for my Junior year — a shortfall of $10,000 after I was disqualified from receiving the DCTag grant for DC residents due to a mistake on my part during the filing period.
My ask is for any contribution you can give. I assure you that $$$ will go directly to paying my Junior tuition balance. In 2020, I missed an important deadline and in the midst of COVID-19, failed to read revised submission criteria carefully for DC Tag’s additional documentation. For those mistakes I am accepting responsibility but also trying to right the wrong with this effort by getting a part time job starting January 2021 and moving back home.
I have dedicated much of my time at Pitt-Bradford trying to better myself as a student, person and goalkeeper, as well as helping to better those around me. I take pride in my university and I value my education more than most things. I will be devastated to see it slip from my grasp. As much as I hate prioritizing myself in this way and asking for help, I have to step out of my comfort zone and explore every option. My family and I have tried pretty much everything to pay this bill, including applying for students loans, and University of Pittsburgh already received a lump sum payment from my parents but with the family’s income currently cut in half, that is all they can give right now.
Again, I thank you immensely for taking the time out of your day to view this page. I ask that, if you can't donate, you share my story so that others can help please.
To the young people reading this page - pay attention to details. They matter. Read and stay on top of application processes especially scholarships and grants so you can avoid what happened to me.
