In light of the recent sexual assault allegations on members of fraternities at Cornell University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Wisconsin Beta chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon reaffirms our condemnation of sexual assault, drugging, coercion, and violence in all forms. These behaviors have no place within the Greek community, or on any college campus. Every student deserves to be treated with respect, and to feel safe and supported on their campus.

As members of Sigma Phi Epsilon, we are committed to always protecting, supporting, and respecting every individual on our campus. We carry a responsibility within our brotherhood to uphold standards of respect, accountability, and care for others.

Brotherhood means standing up, not standing by.

We stand in support of survivors and those whose lives have been impacted by sexual assault. Support means respecting the voices of survivors, listening without judgment, and honoring their choices about seeking justice.

WI-Beta’s Philanthropy Mission
We have committed our fundraising efforts for the fall 2026 semester to RAINN, the largest anti-sexual assault organization in the United States. Philanthropy goes beyond fundraising, it includes education, preparedness and support training, and legal and policy measures to bring justice.

We will be reaching out to other fraternities at UW-Madison and working to form a joint effort to show our unified support against sexual violence on campus.

Support Resources
If you or someone you know has experienced sexual violence, you are not alone. Support is available.

UW Survivor Services: Provides free, confidential support service to UW-Madison student survivors of sexual assault, dating or domestic violence, sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, and/or stalking.
- Services include advocacy, mental health, and medical support for student survivors, including survivor support groups.

Victim advocacy and Sexual Assault Forensic Exam (SAFE) service are typically available same/next day through multiple entry points (web-booking, drop-in, email to service account, phone call) to ensure timely, accessible care.
- Services are offered in a trauma-informed way to students, in which students are empowered with information about their rights and options and supported to make the choices that are right for them.
- These services are available to all students, regardless of whether alcohol or drugs were involved, and do not require making a report to the university or law enforcement.
