Sierra's Senior Project
Donation protected
Hello there! My name is Sierra Walden, a senior at Harmony School, where we have to complete a 360-hour project of our own design in order to graduate. For my project, I am traveling around the Eastern United States to create a documentary on Contra Dance communities. I will be going to Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Washington DC, Kentucky, Missouri, Illinois, Alaska, Georgia, and hopefully more in order to interview dancers, callers, musicians, and organizers about their communities and how they operate.
My project will focus on the theme of: “What is the importance of social dance in the modern world, and has the expansion of contra dance encouraged the same sense of community throughout the states?”
My end goal is to have a documentary-style video that encompasses how dance communities function, and how they change depending on city size, travel ability, and connection to other communities.
My overall budget is $3,000.00. I have saved money from my paycheck and am applying for scholarships, but any additional help would be so appreciated!
