On Friday, August 11th, Sierra Mattair was seriously injured when someone ran her over as they tried to steal her car. Sierra was taken to the trauma unit where the doctors found that she has 13 broken ribs, a collapsed lung, a fractured pelvis, a broken jaw in 3 places, a torn shoulder, and many other injuries on her whole body. She is lucky to be alive.
Sierra has a long road to recovery. She will need surgery to repair her whole rib cage, by putting in metal plates and screws to hold her ribs together. She will have her jaw wired shut for 6 weeks as they repair her broken jaw. Surgery to repair her fractured pelvis and torn shoulder. She will also have many dental surgeries after her jaw heals from being wired shut to repair the broken and chipped teeth. After all the surgeries she will need months of physical therapy while she learns to move her body again.
Sierra attends Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was supposed to return to school on August 16th for her sophomore year. Until she recovers, Sierra is not able to work or return to her life in Colorado. Your support will help with the mounting medical bills, tuition loss, vehicle fund and Sierra’s rent and utilities in CO that she is ultimately responsible for until she returns. The family car that was involved in the incident is being kept by the police department until the criminal investigation is complete, leaving the family of 4 with only one vehicle.
Your help and support will help the family focus on Sierra's recovery and be with her during this crucial time. We want Sierra to be able to heal and get to follow her dreams. We don't want this accident to leave her with a financial burden. We want her to be able to do all the things she has worked so hard for. We will post updates on Sierra’s recovery. Thank you so much for all the love and support!
