UPDATE: Sierra fought hard, it's who she was. But despite her strength and resilience, she could not recover from the injuries she suffered. It is with so much pain that I have to update this. Sierra passed peacefully 10/15/22 at 7:41pm. Our lives are changed forever. We love you so much Sierra and are devastated from all of this. You will be missed, always.
This page is now a memorial fund, please contribute as you can.

I am fundraising for my niece Sierra Jensen. On the evening of Oct. 2, 2022, our worst fears became a reality. Sierra, our daughter, granddaughter, niece, and beloved sister, at barely 20 years old, was returning home from a duck hunting trip with her boyfriend and his brother when a driver struck them while under the influence at 120 MPH. She was ejected from the vehicle and thrown over 100 feet. She suffered from severe life-threatening injuries and had to be transported to a Neurological/Trauma/Surgical Intensive Care Unit located 2 hours from home. She had exploratory surgery where they found her spleen had been damaged beyond repair and her liver torn. She has received blood transfusions, additional blood products, multiple CT scans, and countless other exams/testing. Her right arm was shattered, her teeth were damaged, and she had her head shaved in spots for a bolt and drain for her brain. The injuries to her brain are the most severe. She is currently in a self-induced coma; the future is unknown at this point. We have been told that this is the hardest part, waiting. Hour by hour, hoping for any updates. Medical professionals have warned to expect as much as a week or even months of a hospital stay. Not to mention what the road will look like from there! Many expenses already accrued by family and friends include travel arrangements, towing of vehicles, lost wages, and more. The immediate costs and prolonged costs for recovery and Sierra's future care needs remain unknown. Sierra is fiesty; she is strong, and she is stubborn. We know she is fighting! The family is asking for any support to help ease this unexpected trauma to our beloved Sierra.
