Sienna Renee Mathews

Hi everybody, I am writing to tell about the passing of our wonderful and sweet daughter Sienna. On Monday the 22nd instead of being like every other hundreds of Monday's we found Sienna unresponsive and immediately called for help. I wish I knew their names but many people showed up and immediately whisked her into the ambulance to get her to the hospital. At UMC many many teams of people did what they could and worked for several hours nonstop to try and keep her from dying but her poor heart could not keep going. After the third time they revived her heart her mother and I were asked to consider letting her go as the prognosis was very bleak. With a heavy heart we agreed to let her pass and she did quickly soon after.

During the time at the hospital many doctors and nurses asked about Sienna having diabetes and I kept saying no she doesn't have diabetes. It became clear to everyone that she had developed Type 1 Diabetes and no one knew. Her blood sugar had risen to a lethal level and that was enough to take away our beautiful child from this world.

Sienna's mother and I have heard from friends and family that it is ok to do things like this as many people have been touched by Sienna's story and want to do what they can to help. We as parents I think are like most others and we did not even think for one second about being ready for the costs associated with services if a child passes. If whomever reads this wishes to contribute we will accept it with the warmest of thanks from our hearts. No amount of money will bring her back but perhaps for the people that will miss her everyday others kindness will help make her memorial a little more beautiful.
