Car Accident Victim, Sidonie Lubanda Funeral

We are devastated to hear of the tragedy resulting from a fatal car accident on Sunday, February 12th. Sidonie, a wonderful wife to Louis and mother of three amazing children (Karen, Ketshia and Janovic) was tragically killed in a car accident that also sent the entire Lubanda family to the hospital with multiple complex injuries, some that will require extensive surgeries.
We have known this family since 2020 when we sold our home in North Liberty, IA to them. They had moved to the United States eight years earlier and Louis and Sidonie had worked many long days and nights to fulfill what they said was the “true American Dream” when they bought their first home and moved their family of five out of a humble, 2 bedroom apartment. We were amazed by their humility, gratitude, and perspective on the chance to move into their first home. We have stayed in touch over the last three years, and always enjoy phone call visits with this incredible family. They have already taught their three children to find joy and gratitude in everything!
As the breadwinner of the family, and now facing the devastation of the loss of his wife and healing from his own injuries and including his children’s medical expenses, we would love to help Louis and ease the burden that comes from hospital and medical bills.

The money raised will be sent to Louis’ brother-in-law and sister, Almeida Diakabana and Carla Elunba. They are caring for Ketshia and Janovic in Cedar Rapids and I have spoken with Louis to have his permission to send the money raised directly to them.
