Hello, I am David, the Founder and Chairman of The Palomino Trust, and I am currently raising funds for our Therapy Pony, Sidney.
Six weeks ago, during a routine check-up, it was discovered that Sidney had a significant heart murmur. Consequently, he was referred to Professor Lesley Young, a Newmarket Equine Heart Specialist, who conducted a thorough examination of Sidney's heart. Unfortunately, the diagnosis revealed a serious heart condition. However, with careful veterinary management and treatment, Sidney can continue to fulfill his role as a non-ridden therapy pony.
At present, The Palomino Trust is exploring the best options for Sidney's care and seeking ways to finance his specialised veterinary treatment, which is beyond our current financial capacity. Sidney is an extraordinary pony who has brought joy and comfort to numerous children and adults over the years. His innate ability to connect with people and provide extra care and attention when needed makes him truly invaluable.
Our goal is to raise £2000 for Sidney's veterinary care over the next 18 months. This will cover specialist equipment for monitoring his condition, medication, quarterly heart examinations by our veterinarian P. Dyson, and an annual comprehensive heart scan.
Additionally, we aim to raise funds to purchase a specialized piece of equipment from America, known as the Equicizer. This would facilitate the ongoing success of our alternative equine therapy, reducing our dependence on Sidney during the sessions.
The Equicizer has proven to be an effective therapeutic aid in the United States for individuals with a range of physical conditions, including arthritis, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, spinal cord injuries, head trauma, paralysis, amputations, and strokes. Additionally, it has served as a valuable resource for numerous people with emotional and learning disabilities.
