On September 11th, Cheryl received the unfortunate news that she had stage 2 breast cancer. This came following her recent neck fusion surgery, so needless to say this was extremely emotional for Cheryl and her family. Further testing identified possible cancer on both sides, but one side was found to be benign. Genetic testing and risk assessments were completed, indicating a very high risk for the cancer to come back. Weighing out her options, Cheryl has bravely chosen to have a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction surgery. This decision weighs heavy on her mind and heart. Cheryl's option for these surgeries is to go to the University of Alabama in Mobile. The two surgeons at this facility are known to be the best in the area. Unfortunately this will become a financial burden because it is out of network with her insurance. In addition to this, Cheryl is not currently eligible for FMLA, has no time off left from work, and will need time off for both the surgeries and radiation treatment, which will require on-going treatment for 5-6 weeks, 5 days per week.

This fundraiser will help cover the many medical, travel, and living expenses associated with her treatment, including many trips out of state to receive this life saving care. Any support, no matter how big or small, helps lift some of the weight off her shoulders so she can focus fully on healing.

Cheryl is a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to so many. She is known for her kind and compassionate spirit and has always lifted others up in their time of need. Now is our time to uplift her!
