His mother walked in his bedroom to see him unresponsive, rushed him to the hospital. He coded and they brought him back to life, but due to his ailing health of dealing with Sickle Cell Anemia everything they tried to do was to much stress on him and Raymond Charles Horsley transitioned to be with the Lord.
Raymond was a joyous baby , but he would have pain crisis, and diagnosed at birth it was informed that he may not make it to his teenage years, but he maintained. He would play with his cousins go on family outings for his make a wish he went to Disney. With having this disease he would have sporadic pain crisis that would put him in the hospital on pain medications he had his spleen removed, stints put in, feeding tubes, blood and plasma transfusion, this being a genetic disease, traits passed down from your parents all you could do is pray through it. Raymond didn't complain through his school years, he was actually top 25% in his SAT and could go to any college that he wanted to but he decided to stay with his best friend for his whole life his mother. So he just decided to stay home and live, which is what he did. Over the last two years he probably is a video game professional, but he was also a frequent visitor in the ICU.
There was conversations that he may not make it out of this, or there is nothing that could be done, but God let him keep on, to come back home to his family. He had battles with his kidneys, liver and still he kept on hanging in there for these last two years it was trying and taxing on his body and his organs, there was time that he was tired and wanted to give up, but he would look to his mother and go one.
It is a heavy heart to write this as living with a disease that you know is going to be your undoing Raymond lived past the times that they doctor's told his mother he would be on this earth. He lived to to see 27 years and now we have to say goodbye, when you have sickle cell anemia, insurance company aren't quick to insure you, there is testing and doctors need to be contact to validate your condition how serious it is, and what treatments you are on. So it comes as no surprise that he is uninsurable,. So if you could find it in your heart to give anything that you can to lay Raymond to rest, that would be appreciated by the family and God bless you.
