Sica’s Emergency Remodel
Donation protected
June 3, 2024:
After 7 months of insurance claims, contractor estimates, and Sica living out of a suit case and sleeping on her couch… her apartment problems are finally being addressed! Unfortunately, insurance did refuse to pay for the root of the plumbing issue to be resolved. So that repair cost Sica all of her savings and a new home equity loan. I’d love to help her cover those costs and build her savings back up!
October 2023:
Hi everyone! This is Heidi Glauser. If you’re reading this you probably know my sister, Sica Glauser. And if you know Sica, you know she’s one of the most selfless people around. Sica is an incredibly hard worker, she devotes well over 70 hours a week to keeping the Utah Lacrosse team safe and healthy as their Athletic Trainer. A job she LOVES, but that doesn’t pay nearly what it should. To further supplement her income, she works per diem as an Athletic Trainer for a few local high schools. When Sica is not working, she’s helping someone. Mowing neighbors’ lawns, dog sitting, baby sitting, baking delicious treats, helping with house projects, just doing everything she can for others. She is a giver through and through, and it’s time for us to give back.
Sica is an amazing homeowner, for which we’re super proud of her. Recently it’s become clear that much of the plumbing in Sica’s self-proclaimed “basement house” was creatively done by previous owners. This week her room flooded, so she’s been working hard to solve this issue with plumbers, mitigation teams, the home warranty company, and insurance adjusters. But this job is proving to be so much larger than we expected. Her whole bathroom and half the kitchen have been gutted, and will have to be redone, as well as the carpet in her bedroom.
Sica has had many other emergency expenses this year, which have emptied her hard-earned savings. We don’t know if insurance or home warranty will be covering any of these issues, but we know that even if they cover some, there will still be a huge bill for Sica at the end of the project. At the moment, her apartment is not functional at all. Insurance is thankfully covering a short hotel stay, but she doesn’t know how she’ll handle any of these bills, or what she’ll do after the hotel stay.
Watching Sica struggle through another emergency expense is heartbreaking. This has been incredibly emotionally and logistically taxing for her. So let’s help her as much as we can, just like she has done for us. Every dollar helps, and will go directly to Sica’s emergency fund.
