SIBLINGS photo project

My name is Lili Gyarmati and I'm a photography student originally from Budapest, Hungary based in London right now.


Earlier this year it was a real honor for me when I found out that my application to the Post Graduate Photography course at the University of Arts London has been accepted. Not long after this I took a deep breath, left my job, said goodbye to my friends and family and moved to London to pursue my dream of becoming a better photographer.

Currently, I'm working on my graduation project, for which I chose to shoot a portrait series that I had in mind for years and it's working title is SIBLINGS at this point.


My main interest in photography has always been portraiture, relationships, and personal stories. I believe through this series of photographs I can share how complicated, challenging, yet beautiful it can be to be related to someone this way even though people often take it granted as being a nice and easy thing.

Siblings usually have to face quite a few difficulties, such as a huge age difference, complicated family history, problematic parents or their divorce... and yet, they have to be there for each other no matter what. This kind of love is very strong and admirable in my mind.


I would like to use medium format analog film and a Mamiya RB67 camera for this project and do the processing and the prints in the darkroom. Unfortunately, this process requires a much higher budget than digital photography, which I couldn't afford at this point, that's why I would like to ask for your help.

I will use the funds on medium format film, printing paper, renting/purchasing the Mamiya RB67, creating a coffee table book of the series and the costs of the exhibition.

In exchange, I'm trying to offer nice gifts and even if you cannot contribute financially, a share on any social media platform could be a huge help.
