As you are all aware, Lebanon is currently in the midst of an economic, social and health crisis of unimaginable proportions. The Healthcare sector is one of the most impacted, with a range of hospitals and medical facilities coming under massive pressure. One such facility is Sibline Public Hospital, the only public hospital in Iklim El Kharoub region. It serves close to 30 regional villages with more than 70000 people.
It is the only hospital in this region that has an equipped dedicated Covid-19 response facility and the only emergency department within a 30km radius.

Sibline hospital is currently at risk of closure. Closing the hospital would have very serious ramifications to the whole region.  The recent spread of the highly contagious Delta variant only amplifies the importance of maintaining this facility.  Emergency cases may otherwise face a two hour drive to the nearest hospital assuming vehicle and fuel is available. This would put lives at risk.

Australian Jieh Community was approached by local officials and the General Manager of Sibline Hospital who are reaching out to all Iklim residents working or living abroad.

In return, we are appealing to all Australian Lebanese families, especially those who have relatives in the Ilklim El Kharoub region (including the Jieh and surrounding villages) to help us support Sibline hospital to stay open and continue to service patients in the region.

Our target is high. Our aim is to  focus on life threatening cases in the hospital. this includes medical supplies used in the operation theatre and related supplies:

• Automnomic Drugs, such as Adrenaline, Atropine, Dobutamine and many others

• Electolytes such as sodium Bicarbonate, Potassium Sulfate and many others

• Antibiotics medications, such as, Fluconazole, Cefotaxime/Calforan and many others

• Anticoagulants such as Heparin sodium, Lovenox and manu others

• Serums/Blood Derivatives such as Erythropoetin, Fligrastim and many others

We have a team of people on the ground, led by our representative, Mr Ziad Boustani, that will be working closely with the General Director of Sibline Public Hospital, Dr Rabih Seifeddine and his team, to ensure that every dollar collected is directed towards pre-agreed initiatives. No cash will be provided directly to the hospital – this has been agreed with the hospital management team.

يمر لبنان بأزمة غير مسبوقة إقتصاديا، إجتماعيا وصحيا. القطاع الإستشفائي هو من أكثر القطاعات تضررا. مما يضع المستشفيات والمؤسسات الطبية تحت ضغط هائل. مستشفى سبلين، هو إحدى هذه المؤسسات. فهو المستشفى الحكومي الوحيد في إقليم الخروب، والذي يؤمن الخدمات لأكثر من 70000 مواطنا في ثلاثين بلدة، ومن ضمنها الجية. كما أنه الوحيد في المنطقة الذي يوفر خدمة الإعتناء بمصابي الكورونا.

 

مستشفى سبلين مهدد بالإقفال. وتداعيات ذلك كبيرة، خاصة في ظل أزمة كورونا المستفحلة وإنتشار الDelta. بغياب "سبلين"، قد يحتاج المريض الى أكثر من 45 دقيقة للوصول لأقرب مستشفى، مما قد يشكل خطرا على الحياة في الحالات الطارئة.

 

لقد بادر المسؤولون في المنطقة ومدير المستشفى، من ضمن حملة عالمية لإنقاذ المستشفى، الى الإتصال بجمعية الجية في أستراليا. تجاوبا مع هذا النداء تدعو الجمعية كافة اللبنانيين، وخاصة أبناء إقليم الخروب، لدعم المستشفى وإبقاء أبوابها مفتوحة لمساعدة أهالي المنطقة.

 

الأمل كبير وهدفنا العمل على تأمين المستلزمات الطبية ومن ضمنها: بنج ومسكنات، أمصال، مضاضات حيوية، مسيلات الدم، أدوية جلد ودم...
