Hi there! I live in Piscataway NJ in my family’s home with two dependents, my elderly mother and younger sister. I take care of the all the bills and maintenance of the house.
Recently we have had a number of emergencies which has left us with no kitchen, one less bathroom, and repairs needed in the basement.
Just a year ago we were hit hard by Hurricane Ida (Sept 2021), flooding my basement resulting in $27k in damages ($17k received in government assistance from FEMA and $3k received by Insurance).
Last month we have had Kitchen damage due to a leaky faucet pouring gallons of water into the cabinets, which spread to the floor and walls, affecting a bathroom and my basement again.
I’m not a handy guy, so I had to hire remediation and restoration companies to help clear out affected areas. My homeowners insurance isn’t covering any of this new damage, saying it was neglect and not an accident. (So much for being in good hands with insurance companies). As the damaged areas were taken away we are now left with an unusable kitchen. I’m working with 5 different contractors/companies to get a working kitchen. As they work, I try to do what I can to minimize costs, however we continue to find new issues that need to be repaired and I’m now left in more debt than I planned on. So I have started this gofundme.
I don’t expect people to donate so much that all the repairs are paid for, but any help I can get is greatly appreciated.
I’ll keep this posted with pics and progress pics. Thank you for reading this, and thank you for donating if you decide to do so.
