Hello, my name is Brandon. My wife, Sassy, and I have created this gofundme account for our 4 year old maltipoo that was attacked by an unleashed dog on 4/5/17. Sassy was taking Shylo out for an evening bathroom walk near the baseball fields at the Quail Hill park, when an unleashed dog came from behind and attacked Shylo and bit her in the leg. The owner of the dog came running after his dog and pulled his dog away before any more damage was done. Sassy grabbed Shylo and rushed her to the house. By the time her sister was able to come out to find the man and his dog, he had already fled from the scene. Luckily our neighbor was there to rush Sassy and Shylo to the Southern California Specialty Pet Hospital. In the attack, Shylo's front right leg was bit in half and this required the rest of her limb to be amputated immediately.
Shylo spent 3 days and 2 nights in the hospital and racked up a $3,000 hospital bill. The owner of the unleashed dog (attached pictures) should be responsible for this bill and any other medical bills/equipment purchased in the future but unfortunately his whereabouts are unknown. Irvine police dept, friends, family, and the community have been helping us try to locate this individual and his dog but we have had no such luck.
Shylo is on the road to recovery and is doing better each day. We have been researching different types of wheelchairs to assist Shylo in getting around until she gets her strength back to function as a 3 legged dog. We love Shylo and she has many more years ahead of her. We are reaching out to friends, family, and the community to help with Shylo's hospital bill as I'm sure there will be many more dr visits in the future.
