In Feb 2019, I entered the Army active duty as a Direct Commission board-certified anesthesiologist. During BOLC-B training Apr 2019, I was sexually assaulted by student-officers LT Joseph Holm and CPT Mikhil Joseph and Command under the leadership of LTC Paul D. Lang covered up by not notifying police. Afterwards, retaliation ensued when I chose to report Command's wrongdoing to the Inspector General. Fort Belvoir Community Hospital denied my credentialing (said I never worked one day after residency graduation; they must have "lost" the references), military police at Fort Sam Houston lied about my assaulting a military police officer during Captains Career Course 9/2019, and Company Commander CPT Caroline E. Hafenbrack RN told me to "take the bus" to the ER when I experienced suicidal ideation during PTSD. Military healthcare providers continued to misdiagnose me Jan-Feb 2020 until Civilians stepped in from Fairfax County Sexual Violence Services, VA-PTSD consultation program and Dr. David Fago, adjunct Professor at Univ. of Maryland.
The military healthcare providers have since been reported to their various state licensing agencies; investigations are underway. Around May 2020, Dr. Deidre Defoe contacted me as another victim of wrongdoing by Fort Belvoir leadership. She is on LinkedIn. Army JAG/TDS played games; the Civilian law firm Tully&Rinckey stepped up to help me and keep me safe.
Other highlights:
1) Troop Command under the leadership of LTC Elise D. O’Hern tried to get my husband in trouble via Fort Belvoir Chaplains encouraging me to accuse my husband of physical assault. Divide and conquer strategy! Later, young Marines told me they already knew about betraying Chaplains from training.
2) In the FBCH psych ward, staff sometimes touch you without your permission and then tell military police that you were sleeping. Patients say, “I don’t want to ask staff questions because they’re just going to lie to me.”
3) LTC Robert P. Federigan at Captains Career Course, “ordering” me to enter his office without trusted battle buddies. What was his plan? To rape me behind closed doors? Or chemical assault with an injection of ketamine, as some Sailors do to victims? Then he orders me to leave the course - which others say is an “illegal order” because he lacked the authority.
4) Of course a smart puppy like me was going to sniff out the fraud! What did they expect?! For me to be dumb?
Moral of the story? We learn together from past wrongdoing to improve ourselves. In medicine, it is called the M&M conference. By learning from trauma, the Army tomorrow will be better than the one yesterday.
In the interim, anesthesiologists are physicians first before the specialty. Your local COVID-19 news at Fort Belvoir below, labeled ***Fort Belvoir COVID-19 Watch.

If strangers assault you when you ask for a penny, what do some dumb Army leaders do when you tattle? Pow pow!
