Help us buy a school shuttle bus for Adakuma Village children!

Hi, my name is Dinah.

I grew up in Adakuma, Ghana and moved to London 23 years ago. Every day I would walk a six-mile round trip to school in my village, often without shoes in the rainy months. The route exposed us to venomous snakes, scorpions, ticks, and dangerous spiders - all on the way to school which was deeply traumatising for me. Friends of mine were exposed to horrifying sexual attacks, and every child faced life-changing risks on every journey they made. Due to these risks, 90% of my peers dropped out of school.

This is an experience that no child should ever be exposed to, and yet in 2022, the children of Adakuma Village still have to walk the same route, with the same exposure to the same dangers, every single day. If they choose not to do so, they would not get an education.

My dream is to change this predicament. I am dedicated to raising £15,000-20,000 to buy a shuttle bus, employ a driver and pay for fuel. Any excess funds would purchase textbooks and school supplies for the children. I believe the idea is self-sufficient when it is up and running. The driver will be able to use the bus commercially whilst the children are in school, which will provide an income for the driver and sustain the project long-term.

A shuttle bus would dramatically change the lives of every child growing up in this village. It would pick the children up in the morning, drive them safely to school, and then pick them up in the evening, dropping them home safely. This means that all children, regardless of disabilities, could get an education without being in danger.

I believe every child deserves this opportunity, so I'm relying on the generosity of all of you to make this a reality. Any money that you have to spare would go a long way to change these children's lives for good.
