Last wave in, came off a high floater late and hit the explosion from the breaking wave coming back up. It physically pushed my board back up into my leg as I was coming down and my whole foot, ankle, knee buckled.
Result, fractures to the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th metatarsal bones in my right foot, overall foot/ankle sprains, and the worst, torn lisfranc joint which will require surgery to repair.
I'm a bartender by trade and is basically my only income. This injury will put me out of work for at least the next 8-10 weeks.
Adding insult to my injury, my "insurance" covers exactly $0 for any emergency medical expenses. Therefore this whole procedure will be 100% out of my pocket. The Doctor went out of his way to help me keep costs down, but the total expense is still a lot more than I have.
