Two months ago believing she had a prolapsed disc in her back, Lynda received the devastating diagnosis of cancer (Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma). Her entire world collapsed around her and she was almost immediately given radiation therapy to reduce the masses on her spine. Now on her second round of chemo she is feeling the effects and has to shield on her own at home.
For those of you that don’t know Lynda or have seen this link shared on social media, please read on – this is not a sob story, quite the opposite in fact – you see Lynda is one of the strongest women I know, she is a mother to her two boys Noah (9) and Jacob (7), she works full time as a police officer, she has raised thousands of pounds for charity including cycling through the night in London for cancer research and she would drop everything to help a friend in need.
One of the first things she said to me after she her diagnosis was ‘what about my boys Jen’? I simply didn’t know what to say, I cried and she consoled me!
Due to COVID-19 Lynda can’t have many visitors, her boys have had to move out and are staying in Liverpool with relatives. This is a horrible situation, Lynda misses her boys terribly and they are bound to be confused and sad at not being able to see their mum.
Myself, friends and colleagues want to do something for Lynda and her boys that gives them hope and something to look forward to. We are raising funds to send them on holiday when her treatment is over. Some of us are contributing by pursuing individual projects such as completing marathon, half marathon and my five-year old is planning on completing a sponsored bike ride. All monies raised will go entirely to Lynda and her boys.
Please give anything you can, I know this would mean the world to Lynda, Noah and Jacob, so lets give them something to look forward to.
