Shropshire Youth Cricket SA Tour

Our talented group of thirteen youngsters from all over the county are set to take on a challenging programme of cricket matches. We hope that the experience will prove key to their progress as cricketers.  The last Shropshire youth team to tour South Africa made their trip in 2009.  Five members of that squad have gone on to play fully fledged County cricket and a couple to represent England. Our squad have big ambitions too, many have their sights set on an England cap! This tour will test their skills and embed a culture of teamwork, perseverance and sportsmanship - a solid foundation for their future.

Central to the tour will be the effort to immerse the boys in South African culture. The lads will get the opportunity to work alongside local youth charities in SA, gaining experience of cricket and life in the townships.

Over the course of this summer and through the autumn each of our boys will be doing his own fundraising for they are determined to make a significant material contribution (of sports kit and a cash donation) in support of these South African charities.
