Shree Bhanodaya Basic School Education Fund
Donation protected
Namaste. I recently traveled to Nepal and spent some time volunteering as a teacher at Shree Bhanodaya Basic School in the Kathmandu Valley. I was instantly blown away by the work ethic and desire to learn by all the children and staff. However, as I sadly discovered most won't make it past a primary level of education. I have started this fundraiser with the hope of changing this reality, making it possible for kids to stay in school.
Many of the students travel to school from distant communities hoping to better their lives through education. The students will stay with family members and friends working long hours before and after school to pay for their room and board.
While volunteering at the school I sat down with Senior School Leader, Kamal Khatri, and discussed fundraising possibilities. The school has approximately 250 students, 60 of whom are in need of financial support for the new school year. It costs roughly $150 Canadian dollars to fully sponsor a student, covering things like: stationary supplies, uniforms, daily lunch and teaching allowances. Although it doesn't seem like a lot this would be the equivalent of a couple months of work for most Nepalese families at the school. All donations would be sent directly to the school and used exclusively to further the education of these deserving students.
On behalf of Shree Bhanodaya Basic School - thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Jim Wheen
