My stepmom, Lisa is fighting the battle of her life and medical costs and supplies are rapidly adding up for her. Lisa’s health battle began in December 2018, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had surgery and radiation and was declared to be in clinical remission in October 2020. Unfortunately, less than year later, in late September 2021, Lisa was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer at the age of 59. She started chemotherapy immediately and was also diagnosed with diabetes. Recently this month, Lisa went into surgery to remove the tumor; a procedure known as a whippel. It’s a complex operation where doctors remove part of the pancreas and small intestine and a complete removal of the gallbladder and bile duct. For Lisa, the surgery didn’t quite go as we had hoped. In addition of the removal of her gallbladder and bile duct, her doctors had to remove her entire pancreas, her spleen and part of her stomach. Lisa’s recovery has been very painful and tough; spending 11 days in the hospital. Can you imagine battling two cancers in a such a short period of time? Her savings is gone, used to cover all medical costs from her breast cancer and the chemo treatment of her pancreatic cancer. Now, she is worried about the large medical bills from her surgery and the cost of her meds ongoing. With the removal of her pancreas, her medication and supplies will cost more than originally planned. Please consider donating any amount to help these costs. $10 covers the co-pay for one of her many prescriptions. $25 dollars covers the cost of her medical supplies monthly. $1000 will help her meet her deductible.
