Showing Up for Megan: A Call to Community Care

Megan is someone who loves deeply, shows up consistently, and makes people feel braver simply by being herself.

Megan is a devoted mom, a loving partner, a devoted friend, a nurse, a business owner, a student working toward becoming a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and yoga teacher at Shakti Yoga. She has found a special passion for working with adolescents and a deep desire to be of meaningful service in this world, in her professional world and beyond. She carries a quiet strength and steadiness that naturally holds space for others, lifts people up, and teaches by example. She juggles multiple jobs, carries big dreams, and leads with an authenticity that feels like a breath of fresh air. She loves people well, like FOR REAL, and she shows up for them.

Recently, Megan was diagnosed with colon cancer, initially believed to be rectal cancer. She has surgery scheduled for March 6 for a colon resection, and the results of that surgery will determine whether additional treatment.

Megan co-owns Humankind Health & Wellness in Buffalo and Orchard Park, and her income depends on her ability to work. She is continuing her doctoral program while intentionally cutting back and adjusting her pace so she can prioritize healing. She’s co-parenting a young child, Jack❤️, and she and her loving partner, Rob(❤️), are both in school—working hard, living largely paycheck to paycheck, and building toward long-term stability.

A diagnosis like this can shake anyone, even someone as dedicated and capable as Megan.

This fundraiser is an invitation into community care.

Contributions will help ease the financial strain of surgery, recovery, and any further treatment. Just as importantly, they offer something harder to measure: the feeling of being supported, held, and not alone during an incredibly vulnerable time.

Supporting Megan is an honor. It’s a way to surround someone who has always surrounded others, to show up for her the way she so freely shows up for others.

Thank you for being here, and for being part of this care.
