*Reinforced Vehicle Rescue*

Twenty Mule Team Parkway / 135th St.
The California City Police Department, California City Fire Department Medic Engine 19, Patrol 19, Kern County Engine 14 / 17 with Kern Battalion 1 and Hall Ambulance were dispatched to a vehicle rescue in the area of Twenty Mule Team Parkway and 135th Street.
Medic Engine 19 arrived on scene to find a single vehicle with significant damage that was partially underneath a commercial truck. A single occupant of the vehicle was pinned inside requiring extensive extrication.
Medic Engine 19 established command of the “Mule Incident” and requested a tow truck to assist firefighters with extrication needs by removing the commercial truck from the passenger Sedan. A medical helicopter was also requested to launch to the scene.
The single patient suffered major injuries and was transported to a local trauma center by Mercy Air 14.
Crews remained on scene to assist with traffic control and removal of vehicles from the roadway.
Assisting resources included: California City Police Department, Kern County Fire Department, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Preferred Towing and Clark & Howard Heavy Towing.

Due to the extent of his injuries, he will be off of work for quite a while. We are going to do our best to ease the financial strain on his family as he focuses on recovering. All funds raised will go directly to his family.
