Hi, my name is Stephen Michels and I am reaching out to you on behalf of my son, Jonathan. Jonathan is serving at Malagash Bible Camp, a children's, youth and family camp located on the shore of the beautiful Northumberland Strait in Nova Scotia, Canada. This is Jonathan's fourth summer serving as the summer assistant cook. This involves both supporting the head cook in meal planning and running a commercial kitchen, coordinating and training young volunteers, and ensuring every camper is well fed. Some years this has been a paid position; however, this year the position is a volunteer position and Jonathan is responsible to raise his own support. Jonathan believes in the work of the camp and wanted to continue to serve there, knowing he would have to depend on support gifts rather than a salary. It has been a very busy summer for Jonathan, with full camps and, unlike other summers, there is no full time head cook, instead the head cook has changed week to week, requiring Jonathan to provide continuity in the kitchen. It has been Jonathan's passion to serve the Lord and all the campers by giving them great meals every meal, every day, week after week this summer. Jonathan also takes pride in nurturing young kitchen volunteers, teaching them both culinary skills and responsibility. Jonathan has been studying sciences and hopes to be able to continue his studies when he can afford it. Any contribution you can give to Jonathan will not only support Jonathan's future studies, it will remind Jonathan that people appreciate the work that he has been doing in the kitchen, caring for the needs of children, youth and families this summer. It's hard work, but it's worth it!
