I’m writing this with a heavy heart, trying to find the right words during a time that doesn’t feel real. We recently and unexpectedly lost my stepdad, Bill.

Bill was a loving husband to my mom and a steady, caring presence in our lives. His passing has left a deep emptiness, and the grief, my mom has been faced with more than anyone should have to carry at once.

My mom is the kind of person who is ALWAYS giving — donating to animal shelters, helping anyone in need, and showing up for others without ever expecting anything in return. She has spent her life caring for people and animals, and is always putting herself last. Now, she’s been hit all at once with unexpected medical bills, funeral home expenses, and everyday living costs, during a time when she should only be focused on grieving and healing.

This fundraiser is our way of trying to give back to my mom — to help ease some of the financial weight so she doesn’t have to face this alone. As she had to take so many days off of work to be with Bill while he was in the emergency room countless times, and then moving into home hospice. Any donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward helping cover these expenses and supporting her through this incredibly difficult season.
