Margo-go-go!
Donation protected
None of us could have predicted that a thriving life in Vancouver BC on the heels of graduating from college and landing her first job would need to abruptly stop to manage a health care crisis. Certainly, Margo never did. Margo was diagnosed with lymphoma this spring forcing the need to make big and sudden changes to prioritize her health.
After receiving her cancer diagnosis, Margo had to leave Vancouver and move back in with her parents practically overnight. This move included losing her lease, giving up her job, and saying an unexpected goodbye to her friends and community in Canada in order to access chemotherapy treatment in Oregon. Over the last 6 months of chemotherapy, Margo has lost her ability to work while also being confronted with managing new expenses associated with treatment and insurance limitations. Margo currently has no income, and due to her current residence in Oregon she is not eligible for unemployment in Canada where she contributed and began her career.
Her treatment is going well and her medical team feels hopeful about her progress. This positive outlooks means Margo will be able to contemplate what will be next as treatment concludes in the coming months. However, starting over as a young adult with savings that have been exhausted from medical expenses means that her options remain limited and dependent on others, precisely at a time when Margo was making her way toward independent adulthood. Thankfully, Margo has a strong community of love and support that includes many of you reading this fundraiser!
If you know Margo, you know she's a giver, a lifelong volunteer, and one of the most generous people on this planet. Setting up a fundraiser for herself is the last thing she'd consider or ask for. But we know she deserves it and has a community of people near and far that want to support her and give back the love she so readily shares with all of us!
Please consider contributing to this fundraiser with a donation or by sharing the link to help Margo get back on her feet and launch back into independence as she begins to reimagine what her future can look like post-treatment and recovery.
