Dear Friends,
Please read the following to understand Scott's most recent health challenges and how you can join us in helping lessen his financial burden during his recovery. Please share this information with friends of Scott's that aren't on Facebook!
Like many of you, the McColl sisters have known Scott since we were kids. He's like a brother to everyone... always there to share a laugh or lend a hand. We have never heard Scott speak negatively about anyone, or heard others speak negatively about him. Everybody loves him. He never says no when you need his help, and you can always rely on him to make you laugh.
If you have known Scott for all of the years we have, you probably know about the health challenges he's endured. Starting with Polycystic Kidney Disease, he has had years of dialysis resulting in a kidney transplant, several bouts with skin and throat cancer, multiple surgeries and treatments, months of recovery and getting back on his feet physically and financially, all while raising his two boys. To say that the last 25 years have taken a toll on Scott, is an understatement. Yet you wouldn't know any of this by his attitude, as he has always remained positive and hopeful.
Most recently, Scott is recovering from another bout of Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Unlike his previous skin cancer removals, this one required a 14 hour surgery in which a team of surgeons removed a golf ball size tumor in his neck, relocating latissimus muscle from his back to his neck, reconnecting arteries and veins to establish blood flow to the area, and transplanting skin grafts from his thigh to his neck. After a week in the hospital, Scott returned home with drainage tubes, staples in his neck and back, and a wound that needed careful, around the clock monitoring. After recovering at home for 3 weeks, it was determined that part of the skin graft didn't take and that there would need to be another surgery. This 2nd surgery was successful, but it added several weeks to his recovery time.
Although Scott's employer has been a tremendous source of support, and assured Scott his job will still be there when he's cleared to return, Scott has used up all of his paid time off and still has several months of recovery before he can return to work. Like many of us, Scott has a difficult time asking for help. We insisted that he allow us to reach out to the many people who love him and ask for their support.
Please join us in helping Scott heal without the stress of financial burdens. Any size donation is greatly appreciated. Please be assured that EVERY CENT is going to Scott to use to sustain his daily living expenses. We understand that not everyone is in a position to make a monetary donation, so words of encouragement and prayers are just as important in his recovery.
Thank you all so much for rallying around Scott in support. He is grateful for each and every one of you! If you have any questions or need additional information on the above, please don't hesitate to reach out to us through Facebook under the following profiles:
