AL needs our help!
I have known Al since Highschool. They were beside me at my wedding and there when I was giving birth. Al is a person who SHOWS UP. If you have been supported by Al you know what it's like to be truly seen, listened to and made to feel important. It's time for us to show up for them. Here's what Al has trusted us to share.
The good news? After years of tests and appointments, doctors know what's up! Woo!
The bad news? It’s cancer.
The other good news? Surgery ASAP can treat this cancer. Woo!
The other bad news? Surgery means being out of work for 4-6 weeks.
February 10th I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer. It’s at least Stage 1, and doing a hysterectomy is a “staging surgery” so they get up in there and send my uterus to pathology to see if it’s spread anywhere.
I can’t schedule this surgery until I know that financially I’ll be able to make it those 4-6 weeks. That long without any income, living in a three story walk up, not being able to stand for long to cook or lift things will be rough. I know times are hard on absolutely everyone right now and am grateful for any support you can give (including ideas for games and books to keep me occupied during recovery!)
Funds will go toward:
Rent and utilities
Meals
Laundry services
Food and litter for Erwin
Other hysterectomy recovery specific items
While this is a common cancer, it’s rare for someone who just turned 31 and concerning having a family history of ovarian cancer. The sooner I can gather these funds, the sooner we can schedule surgery to evict my cancerous uterus and prevent any progression.
It would be a tremendous gift to focus on recovery and next steps instead of rushing to get back to work.
Thank you for reading and for being here. I won’t be able to kick this cancer without you.
