So as some of you may know my mother Sonja Peets was diagnosed in late July early August with stage IV Colorectal Cancer. Unfortunately, the cancer has spread to her lymph nodes, lungs, liver and other organs. She is currently declared terminally ill and was given 2-3 years to live and will be undergoing radiation and chemo for the remainder of her life. 1,095 days we have left to enjoy birthdays, holidays and other monumental moments of our lives together. If you’ve had the opportunity to meet my mother whether it be through work, my siblings and I’s childhood friends or just in passing then you know “my mother” really means “our mother”. She’s been there to listen through the ups and downs life brings us and a shoulder to lean on for many. Now it's time to show her the gratitude she's given us and help her through this difficult time. She is currently on a very aggressive chemo treatment that can only be administered once every two weeks with multiple days of down time to recuperate from the side effects. Meaning she will not be able to work full time and will be putting most of her energy into her healing and recovery. She is on short term disability from her job and has had her income cut drastically. Also, without health insurance she has accumulated a couple medical bills that Medicaid will not back date for payments.
