On January 5th, 2019 Chris Juba was the passenger in a car that was involved in a horrific crash which sadly took the life of his beloved friend Kyle.  Chris was trapped in the car for four hours before the car was discovered by a woman who was returning home from work.  He was life flighted to a Pittsburgh hospital where the skilled and compassionate doctors and nurses saved his life, but could not restore his ability to walk.  His loving family, wonderful friends and dedicated medical staff held his hand to help him through his life changing experience and found that Chris also helped them with his positive attitude, sincere gratitude, infectious smile and tremendous strength.

      Many people are asking “what can we do to help” which prompted his many friends to start a GoFundMe page.  Chris is presently in rehabilitation trying to learn what will be his “new normal.”  He will have many expenses which will be required to help him lead an independent life.

      His immediate and greatest expenses will be to convert his home into one that will be accessible to someone with his level of injury.  He will also need to purchase much equipment that will help him with mobility that is not covered by insurance.

      Chris and his family are overwhelmed with gratitude for the love, support, and prayers that have been given to them by our caring community, the GCU, Seven Oaks Country Club, the Fort Mac Club, their loving family and friends along with the many prayer groups and masses from churches across the country.  They feel blessed and thankful for all of you.  Chris knows that life as he knows it will be forever changed and he will never stop grieving for Kyle.  God has chosen a different path for Chris and although there will be many bumps along the way, those of us who know him have no doubt that he will embrace the changes and be an inspiration to all of us.

It is anticipated that Chris will be needing assistance in financing the following:  

*Renovations to bathroom for accessibility
*Other Modifications to home for accessibility
*Threshold Ramps
*Modifications to car such as hand controls
*Durable medical equipment not covered by insurance
*Out of pocket medical expenses

      Though this list is lengthy, it may not be entirely comprehensive as it is hard to say what all needs will arise for Chris and his future.  But it is our hope to begin sharing his story and bringing awareness to his needs.  

      First, we ask that you begin or continue to pray for Chris, his healing journey - both physical & emotional, and also for the entire Juba family - George, Sue and Nick - who have been incredibly supportive care takers.
