UPDATE
Nikolas had surgery on Sept 14, and although he seemed to recovery pretty quickly, unfortunately during his post op appointment they discovered fluid around his heart and he was immediately readmitted.
After attempting to use multiple medications to eliminate the fluid it continued to increase, and Nikolas had to undergo another procedure to remove the fluid. They inserted a drain from his heart and out his belly, so if the fluid returns they can quickly extract it .
Until they decide to remove the drain Nikolas will remain hospitalized, he can’t go home with this drain in place.
Despite not being home for 21 days, and being thoroughly sick of being here, the little guy is doing pretty well. Nikki is here with him and as expected being an amazing advocate for him, keeping everyone informed, and generally keeping things organized and moving!
By the time they get to go home they will have spent nearly a month in Palo Alto, and to say that’s an expensive few weeks is an understatement.
I’d like to just bump this GoFund me back to the top of everyone’s email in the event you might like to drop a few more bucks in there to help out with all of these extra stuff expenses.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give! ❤️

ORIGINAL INFO
Anyone who knows the Rotherham’s know they are always first in line to help people out! Now is our chance to pay it back just a fraction!
The Rotherhams’s youngest son Nikolas is likely going to require open heart surgery at Stanford in the next couple of weeks. Although it’s a miracle that this issue was discovered before Nikolas experienced great harm, we are all just a little heartbroken that this loving amazing little guy is going to have to endure such a major procedure. ❤️
It’s no secret how taxing something like this can be on a family. Nikki and Scot will be in Palo Alto with Nikolas for at least two weeks, and just the expense of accommodations there is crazy. We are hoping to help them out with the cost of travel and staying there for as long as necessary, as well as helping support the kids and family staying back at home, out of pocket medical expenses, and missed work.
We can’t even count the number of times Nikki has donated her time and money to help others, and although she’s going to hate it , we’re going to line up to help the Rotherhams!
