Show Sami You've Got Heart

Donation protected
My niece Sami was born in Costa Rica on December 27, 2013 and was diagnosed with a congenital heart disease called Tetralogy of Fallot (yes, what Jimmy Kimmel's son has!). She was operated on in Spain in 2014 when she was six months old. Unfortunately, it wasn't possible to make the ideal surgical correction at the time, as her heart has a coronary anomaly that is only present in 3% of Fallot cases. Instead, a valved conduit was placed which has degenerated to the point it has created a significant obstruction. Her doctor has advised it is time to intervene again, as the obstruction has created very high pressure which is making her heart work far harder than it should. Although Sami lives in Costa Rica, she needs to travel to Spain on May 4, 2018 to have the procedure done. The doctors estimate the procedure will cost 150,000 euros (roughly CAD $235,000 or USD $185,000). While that number is daunting for most of us, to put things in perspective, the average yearly income of a Costa Rican with post-secondary education is about $12,000.

Sami is a special little girl (although I wouldn't call her unique as she happens to have a twin!) She enjoys playing (she's partial to teddy bears) and is still crazy about Frozen! Sami, her twin and her parents are grateful for any contribution you can make. If you can't make a donation at this time, a share or a retweet goes a long way. Show Sami you have heart (and that there are other wonderful Disney movies out there!)
