Friends, as many of you know, Lauren O'Grady had a seizure and was rushed to the hospital in October. Ultimately a tumor was removed from her brain, and after a lengthy stay at Piedmont Athens Regional she is home recuperating.
Lauren is currently spending her time at home, with a companion at night and occasional visitors during the day. She's working back into her daily walks, adding a little distance daily, making it as far as the stop sign at Barrow Street and Pulaski this weekend.
Lauren has additional treatment ahead, the scope and severity still unclear. We do know that Lauren's business and income had been severely impacted by the pandemic, and now her health concerns make it impossible to work at all until she regains some strength.
A note from Lauren: "My deductible is $8000 and resets on January 1st and my new reality is $3000 MRIs every 3 months. As the neurologist said yesterday ”cancer is expensive”. Luckily everyone seems to be on board with getting me the best treatment at the lowest possible cost."
Funds raised will go to help Lauren meet her copays, pay out of network medical expenses, and cover costs of daily living. Many people have been so good during this time, providing meals, company, and support, but now we need to step up financially. Go Fund Me asks that I let you know that I will be withdrawing funds and delivering them to Lauren by deposit into her checking account for use as needed.
Thank you for being such good friends to Lauren.
