Supporting Cindy Perry and Loch Weems in Their Time of Need
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
I am Dorothy, a friendly acquaintance of Cindy Perry. While I first met her a long ago, I truly got to know her when I became involved with the USTA three years ago. Cindy is a powerhouse---- her dedication to the Community and her tireless efforts to support others have always amazed me.
Now it is our turn to support her.
Her husband Loch Weems, is in a serious fight for life. As many of you may know he was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer. While undergoing immunotherapy, he suffered a severe and unforeseen drug reaction-- one so critical that it became a medical emergency requiring immediate hospitalization. This rare complication causes the skin to peel away leaving the body vulnerable to infection and requiring intensive wound care. Recovering from this can take weeks to months.
Thanks to the exceptional team at Outer Banks Hospital, Loch was stabilized before being transferred to Greenville, where he now receives 24-hour specialized wound care. His doctors have temporarily stopped chemotherapy and radiation, prioritizing the management of this life-threatening condition. His case is severe, and the medical team is proceeding with extreme caution, making major decisions day by day.
We are all praying for Loch’s recovery so he can continue his fight against cancer. Miracles happen every day, and I truly believe in the power of hope and healing.
Cindy has been by his side every moment, now living in a hotel near the hospital. This is not a journey she can walk alone, and the emotional and financial toll is enormous. While she would never ask for help, I know that easing some of their burdens—both financially and emotionally—can make a profound difference.
Since they are far from home, we can’t drop off meals, run errands, or offer a comforting hug. But we can support them in other meaningful ways. I want to support Cindy, Allison and Loch in whatever ways we are able. Funds raised will help cover grocery deliveries, meals, parking, and small comforts that can make this overwhelming experience a little easier for them. Love isn’t something we can buy, but we can show Cindy, Allison and Loch how much they are cared for.
Please consider joining me in supporting them. Cindy has given so much to our community—now it’s our turn to give back. Every gesture, no matter how small, makes a difference.
If you’re able to contribute or share this message with others who know Cindy and Loch, I would be incredibly grateful. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this difficult time.
With gratitude,
Dorothy
