Show Love for the Littlers
Anyone who knows the Littler family, knows that they are four amazing people who love each other and those who have touched their lives fiercely. You also know that Jill was the glue that held them all together with her organization and bright light.
Earlier this year, Jill was diagnosed with oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma, a form of head and neck cancer. What started as a concern after a tooth extraction turned out to be cancer — and a very aggressive one. On May 2nd, she underwent major surgery: a right composite resection, marginal mandibulectomy, bilateral neck dissection to remove affected lymph nodes, and a free flap reconstruction to rebuild the surgical area.
Recovery was difficult and further complicated by a painful abscess in her neck, right at the site where lymph nodes had been removed. Still, Jill began daily radiation and weekly chemotherapy in mid-June. She completed all 33 rounds of radiation and several rounds of chemo with incredible strength — despite setbacks, side effects, and countless physical hurdles.
In late August, Jill was hospitalized with a blood clot in her lung and a buildup of fluid around the opposite lung. After multiple procedures and a biopsy, we learned that the cancer had spread to her lungs.
While the family was initially hopeful that Jill would be able to return to work after treatment , together they made the difficult decision to suspend any future treatments and bring Jill home.
She passed away on September 22 surrounded by her family.
We expect that there will be bills outside of insurance, so we are asking those who love the Littlers to donate what they can.
