Support for Nicholas and His Family During a Critical Time

This is Nicholas—a sweet, joyful, and truly special little boy who was born with an extremely rare genetic condition called Jansen de Vries Syndrome. Despite the many challenges he has faced since birth, Nicholas continues to brighten every room with his smile and sweet spirit.

Nicholas is part of a local Mount Pleasant family. He lives in our neighborhood, attends school with my son, and plays on his soccer team. Many of you may already know this incredible little boy or have seen him around town with his loving family.

A few years ago, Nicholas’ family moved to South Carolina from out of state. Without a strong support system here, they have faced the ups and downs of this rare condition largely on their own. In the coming days, Nicholas will be admitted to the hospital for a whole week of testing, followed by surgery, which will lead to him being hospitalized for an unknown and considerable amount of time. He is expected to spend at least a month—possibly more—in the hospital. His mother will be staying by his side as needed, while his father continues to care for their two other children and additional family members staying with them.

To say they have their hands full is an understatement.

Nicholas has touched my heart and the hearts of many in our community. In times like these, a little help can make a big difference. While his mom was hesitant to accept my help and support, we all need a lifeline now and then—and now is that time.
