Show Love for Ja’nyla and Lee’s Family in Their Time of Need

Hi, my name is Gladys. I am the team mom for the Kendall Boys and Girls Club- 11U Killer Beez. On Sunday, October 13, 2024, we received the news that one of our players, Letanya, experienced a tragedy in his family. A loss no child should ever have to experience. His sister informed us they had lost their mother, Fantashia, in her sleep. As you can imagine, our team was at a loss for words, seeing as we had just seen her on the sidelines the day prior at our game. She was young, fun-loving, hardworking, and a dedicated mother. During game days, you could find her on the sidelines dancing, laughing, and cutting up, but most importantly, cheering on her son and his team.

Immediately after Coach Eric posted the tragic news in our chat, we all knew we had to do something for Lee, his sister, and family. Our chat blew up with parents offering their condolences and "let us know how we can help" messages. The support, love, and encouragement I personally have witnessed in the boys' group chat as they responded to Lee's text "I lost my mom" was INCREDIBLE. How could 11 and 12-year-olds show so much compassion, support, and love for one another?!

It was then we were reminded that this is what it is all about. Building bonds, having each other's backs, and supporting one another on and off the field. Our battle for victory on the field Saturday was a challenge, to say the least. Lee's battle moving forward will be indescribable! We are hoping to show Ja’nyla, Lee, and family that the football community have their back in the days to come.
