Friends. Family. Brothers and sisters in Christ who once gathered around Chuck’s voice, his laughter, his unbreakable spirit—
I write this with deep love in my heart for a man who never once let any of us carry our burdens alone.
This last month, Chuck has been battling lung issues so severe he has been hospitalized three times back to back in the ICU. It started as Covid and Mycoplasma pneumonia putting him on a ventilator for 5 days. A week later he was in ICU coughing up black fluid and his oxygen was low - the results of a bad lung infection. Yet again, a week after returning home - another scary round of low oxygen and back in ICU.
Chuck has been released and is on breathing treatments to help but the impact on him and the family have been tremendous and traumatic.
What started as complications from Covid took dramatic and dark turns no one expected.
Growing up, Chuck was more than a leader to many of us kids in youth group. He led our Bible studies, imparted wisdom, and served community. He taught us what it means to live boldly for Christ: to worship hard, to love harder, to show up when it matters most.
Then he’d crank the music, dive into the mosh pit like a force of nature, body-slamming with joy, making sure every one felt seen, safe, and wildly loved. Chuck is the guy who shows up—for philosophical Bible talks, for moving days, for celebrations and heartbreaks. He led our community not because he had to, but because he loved us like family. Our big brother. The father figure so many of us needed. He’s become a husband and dad who models what real, sacrificial love looks like every single day to his family.
Each admission has been a gut punch—tubes, machines, waiting rooms and the unknown.
His wife, Brittany often by his bedside holding his hand, whispering prayers, trying to stay strong for their kids who just wanted their dad back. While those prayers are answered - time and rest are needed in many ways.
Today I’d like to inspire us to send relief in any amount possible. The donations will be used to help the immediate needs of meals, support and a bridge to allow the family to have more stability so Chuck can recover. We have the power to show up in love and create real change.
I’m inspired by a lesson Chuck taught us- that love doesn’t fade—it multiplies. It becomes a tidal wave of grace when we all move together.
If you’ve ever been touched by Chuck, please give what you can. Even $25, $50, $100 - it adds up fast when hearts are united. If you can’t give financially, share this. Tag the old youth group crew and Calvary Temple family, friends of theirs and personal friends who just like to give. Message the friends who drifted but still remember. Let’s flood their family with proof that they are surrounded.
With all my love,
