As you are probably all aware, on Tuesday, March 31st, Ashley's Robert's husband Brent, an investigator with the sheriff's office, was on his way home when he responded to two individuals in distress after their kayak had overturned on the lake. Without hesitation, he entered the water in full police gear to try and save them. He was able to locate one of the men, but it was a struggle between the weight of the man pulling him down and the weight of the police gear. The drowning man did survive, as did Brent. However, due to the large amount of water Brent ingested during the rescue, he began to experience severe distress and lost consciousness. He was rushed to the hospital and no longer had a pulse when they arrived. Thankfully they were able to recover his pulse and was then sedated and intubated. He remained in the ICU for a couple days but has since returned home and is doing very well.
While Brent focuses on rest and recovery, we as a Northpoint Family would love to come together to support this amazing family to help ease the burden this heroic incident has created. Donations will go directly toward providing grocery store gift cards, restaurant meals, and food delivery services.
Thank you for helping us rally around a true hero and the family who stands beside him.
