Support for the Peters Family
Hey everyone.
As you may have heard, DaNae Peters and family have had a really rough year. Zeke broke his leg recently, and just the other day, their youngest son, Kai, was hit by a car. These two situations were on top of an already hard and full year.
Not one to ask for help, let’s bless this family with the love of community.
Most importantly, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Every bit of support, whether it's a donation, a meal or just some kind words, means so much.
Thank you!
Updates from the Family:
We started out the month of June with two emergency kidney surgeries. About a week and a half later while on the trampoline at home our 9 year old son Zeke was taken by ambulance to Iowa City Childrens Hospital for a distal femur growth plate fracture. They placed pins and put him in a full leg cast for healing. The orthopedic informed us that he is high risk and his injury may result in growth disturbance and we will have to monitor with the U of I orthopedic team for the forseeable future until he’s done growing at the age 15-16. He has been going to Iowa for follow ups with his next appt on July 23rd where the plan is to do general anthesia to remove the pins. We are unsure next steps after that.
On July 17th we experienced a parent worst nighmare when Malakai was struck by a vehicle in front of our home. He immediately went to Newton ER and we were told they would be taking him by flight to Iowa City for trauma care. They pushed head, chest, and abdominal CT and decided they were comfortable taking him by ambulance to Blank to meet with the trauma team. It was a long night. He has no broken bones, and minimal bruising. He does however have a significant confusion/abrasion on his head and severe road rash down his right side, and has been placed in a sling for contusion and swelling to his elbow. The doctors are amazed he is not seriously injured or worse.
I can tell you 100% that the Lord was with Malakai and carried him. It’s nothing short of a miracle and we are so thankful to be able to bring him home. God is SO GOOD! We are giving him all of the glory. He has slept quite a bit and has been slow moving but he is alive and okay and for that we are so grateful. Lots of tears from mom and dad over the last 24 hours.
I just want to thank all of you who have reached out and offered prayers and support. Please continue to pray for Malakai, for myself and our boys, for Michael who witnessed this, and for the sweet woman who was driving when this unfortunate accident happened. Please pray for comfort, peace, and healing.
We have had a long few months, and we have felt all of the love. It doesn’t go unnoticed.
