Show Love and Support for Amy's Cancer Journey

My name is Andrea Schendt, and I have the pleasure of being one of Amy's sisters. I would like to share Amy's story with you in hopes of gaining support where each of you see fit and to provide Amy with less burdens throughout her journey.

On February 5th, 2019, Amy's world was turned upside down. She had noticed a lump in her ear that didn't seem to want to go away. After she came to realize something didn't seem right she went to the doctor to have it checked out. It was at that time she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called, Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma High Grade Stage 2. She immediately started treatment with a fight ahead of her. This form of cancer is aggressive, but not nearly as aggressive as Amy has been in her journey through this. Unfortunately, this cancer has continued to come back repeatedly and has started to spread to other areas of her body. She has dealt with endless amounts of doctors appointment, lab draws, chemotherapy, radiation, expensive medications, and infusions to name a few. She has been deemed ineligible for life insurance, has needed to take time away from work, and has had a shift on what an everyday normal looks like for her. All of these things have impacted Amy, as well as, her husband, Garrett and her 1 year old daughter, Adeline. Amy is a rockstar. She's caring, humble, hardworking, and always seeks an opportunity for something new. Amy has been a valued employee at a company called Orion for many years. She has been involved in the Teammates Program, that helps young children whom are in need, have a person to talk to that consistently grows with them throughout their childhood. This work has poured into Amy's home-life where she is an amazing mother to Addy and an outstanding role model as an Aunt. Amy takes pride in being there for others, with no expectations in return.
