Show LeeAnn that there IS good Karma out there!
Donation protected
I am setting up this GoFundMe for someone I consider my sister. Her name is LeeAnn Walker and she is the kindest, most selfless person I know. If you need something or someone to talk to, LeeAnn is always there. We met at a care facility in Oregon almost 10 years ago. Caring for others is what LeeAnn does. And she does it well.
Back in October, LeeAnn got hurt at work and tore her rotator cuff. She was sent in for an MRI and they found something odd. They ordered another MRI, this time, with contrast. It was confirmed that what they found was a tumor. To be more specific, it was a Brachial Plexus Nerve Sheath tumor, which is very rare. The MRI results were sent to OHSU in Portland. They were able to schedule LeeAnn for surgery to remove the tumor on December 23rd.
Before the surgery, the pain was so debilitating that she has not been able to work. The surgery took over 8 hours due to the placement of the tumor. As fortuitous as the surgery was, it did come with a significant possibility of permanent nerve damage. At this time, they are expecting her recovery to take months before she's able to return to work. The initial result from pathology is that the tumor is benign but they will have the final result the first week of January.
Her recovery will take months and, unfortunately, she does not have short-term disability or qualify for unemployment. Her husband was a manager of a car buying center in Bend but was laid off 10 days before Christmas due to a temporary store closure. This closure affected him, his assistant manager and 3 employees. He does not know when or if his store will reopen.
LeeAnn and her husband have opened up their home and table to those that need a place to stay or something to eat. They have loaned out their car to friends that needed one (me included). She is the kind of person that would not ask for help and this is why I am reaching out. We have talked about her medical bills and just their day-to-day bills. They are both worried about what is going to happen in the next few months.
In order for her to keep her medical insurance, she will need to pay close to $800 per month, not to mention rent and other regular monthly bills. She and her husband believe in Karma. They have put out all this good Karma into the world. I would like to show them “what comes around, goes around!”
