Our dear friend Shawn “Boston” Phillips has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon cancer that has now spread to his liver.  They cannot surgically remove the cancer and as a result, he will be starting chemotherapy treatment next week.  Since his diagnosis, Shawn has been unable to work or earn any money to provide for his loving girlfriend, MacKenzie, and beautiful 8 month old daughter, Harper.  In addition, medical bills are piling up, the majority of which are not covered by his insurance.  Shawn is a very strong willed individual and he is trying to remain positive in the midst of all of this but financial stress in addition to his diagnosis will make this increasingly difficult. As people who love Shawn deeply and want to help in whatever way we can, chipping in financially can have a significant impact by alleviating some of his financial concerns and allowing him to focus on his fight against cancer. 

Anybody who knows Shawn knows he would do anything for his friends and family without mentioning it or ever asking for anything in return.  When something this serious happens, he shouldn’t have to. We’re asking that all of you dig deep in your pockets and show up for Shawn and his family as we know he would for us.  No amount is too small or large.  We understand everyone is in a different situation so give whatever is within your means.  But if you planned on going to a nice dinner, consider eating at home and making a $75 donation instead. I cannot overstate the severity of this situation or the amount of support Shawn will need to fight through it.  He is family to many of us and we can’t picture a world without him.  This is urgent so please don’t wait. Chemo starts within the next week or so.  Please donate now to help Shawn fight through this and come out stronger on the other side.

In addition to monetary donations, we can help Shawn in other ways.  Send love, prayers and support but please respect their privacy during these difficult times. Make yourself available to him and MacKenzie without being overbearing. 

IMPORTANT: Shawn is unaware that we are raising money for him and we’re unsure of how he’d feel about it so PLEASE DO NOT DISCUSS THIS WITH HIM.  We’ll raise the money and give it to him along with a donor list to show how much love and support he has during these trying times. It’s easier to get forgiveness than permission.
