Show Appreciation to Our Crossing Guards

This Christmas, we want to show our appreciation for our Carrollton City Schools crossing guards selfless service by providing them with a special holiday gift. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to divide evenly, to give each crossing guard in our community a holiday gift, a small bonus to brighten their season.

How this fundraiser got started:

My name is Kari Jarrett and I am a longtime parent in the Carrollton City School system. Every Christmas, I try to give the crossing guards I passed on the way to school a little gift. I know several other parents do the same. This year, early on in the school year, I felt strongly that there might be a better way to honor these hardworking individuals. Especially since those guards in lower trafficked areas may not get as much support. After talking to my husband, Kevin (Operations Pastor at City Station), we came up with this idea - to collect funds from parents that want to donate and share the money collected equally among all of the crossing guards.

We knew this wasn't something we could just decide on our own to do and implement it. We talked with the officers at the Carrollton Police Department who are in charge of the crossing guards. They gave us their blessing.

Our next step was to reach out to the Superintendent of schools and be sure this was something they approved of as well, and they gave their approval.

We got approval and help from the school Public Relations team on the signs/banners, and here we are.

How the Funds Will Be Used:

Notes: Write a personal note in the "Words of support" section of this page to encourage them. We will print all notes and give them to the crossing guards with their gifts.

Monetary Gifts: A small bonus for each crossing guard as a token of our appreciation for their dedication. 100% of the funds, after GoFundMe fees, will be divided equally among all crossing guards.

Community Celebration: A holiday event or celebration to gather families, students, and staff to honor and thank our crossing guards.

Why It Matters:

Crossing guards are often the first and last people we see each school day, but their hard work can go unnoticed. This campaign aims to give back to these vital members of our community and show them that their work does not go unappreciated. They play a pivotal role in ensuring our children’s safety, and this Christmas, we want to honor them for all they do.
