On Sunday, October 12, my beloved niece Maddi was struck in a devastating vehicle-pedestrian accident. Maddi was the pedestrian. She is currently receiving critical care at UMD Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where she remains in a medically induced coma.

Since the accident, Maddi has undergone multiple brain surgeries to relieve pressure and drain blood, along with treatment for numerous other injuries. Her condition is serious, and her recovery journey is uncertain.

Her father, my brother, Gene, lives in North Carolina and rushed to Maryland the moment he heard the news. He is now by Maddi’s side, facing the emotional and financial strain of travel, missed work, and the unknowns of long-term care.

We are asking for your help to support Gene during this incredibly difficult time. In the short term, your donations will help with travel expenses and lost income. In the long term, we anticipate medical costs, rehabilitation, and possibly legal fees—but right now, we’re focused on helping Gene stay close to Maddi.
