Hello All,
We are gearing up to film a new short film in Joshua Tree National Park in March. We will be filming on my 30th birthday, and nothing would mean more to me and the amazing cast and crew we have for this project than to be fully prepared for this shoot.
Full disclosure: I am personally putting in $5,000 of my own money to make this film because I believe it is an important story to tell. The additional funds needed will ensure a safe and comfortable set for the 15-20 people who will be working on this project in the middle of desert.
Taking place near the Arizona/California border in 1901, this story follows a bounty hunter, HENRY, who has captured JOANNE, the runaway daughter of a wealthy man, and is trying to return her against her will for the bounty on her head. Joanne is on the run for love, and will do anything in her power to break loose from Henry's watch in order to get where she needs to be. This LGBTQ friendly story examines love, loss, defiance, and what "important" means to different people.
It feels strange to me to be asking for money to make a passion project, but sometimes asking for help is what is necessary to make art. And in the film industry, it goes double (or 1000x). However, as way to make good, any money raised over our goal will be donated to Feeding America and help provide meals to the 1 in 6 Americans who go hungry each day. So let's not just hit our goal of $3000, but lets wildly exceed that goal to help feed those are in desperate need. Please make this boys 30th Birthday extra special by helping him do what he loves most in life - making movie.
